How can I tell if my EC9-5/10 has a crystal failure or a cable failure?

• Crystal Failure: Displays as permanent, distinct vertical black lines (shadowing) on the scanner screen that do not move when you flex the cable.

• Cable Failure: Displays as intermittent lines, image static, or total image freezing that flickers or changes when you gently flex the strain relief or wiggle the cable.
